title: "Google Business Profiles Now Give You Four Days to Reject Suggested Edits"
description: "Google's Business Profile help documentation now gives owners four days to reject a user-suggested edit before Google may publish it automatically."
tldr: "Google's Business Profile help documentation now states that when a user suggests an edit to your profile that needs review, you have four days to accept or reject it from an email or in-product notification. If you do not respond within four days, Google may publish the edit automatically where it is supported by other public information, such as your business website. Some edits that must meet policy guidelines are still applied without any prior notice."

Google has added a section to its Business Profile help documentation, headed "Understand notifications about suggested edits", that sets a four-day window on user-suggested changes to your listing. The documentation now says that when a suggested edit requires your review, "you may receive an email or an in-product notification" and that "once notified, you have 4 days to accept or reject the suggestion". If you do not respond in time, Google says it "may automatically publish the update if it is supported by other publicly available information, such as your business website". The same section notes that some edits skip the notification entirely: Google "may apply suggested user edits to your business information without prior review" where an edit must be brought into line with policy.

The practical point is that a public detail on your profile, an address, opening hours or a category, can now change from a third-party suggestion you never actively approved, simply because you did not reject it within four days. Keep Business Profile email and in-product notifications switched on, watch for the review prompts, and reject anything inaccurate before the window closes. Because Google leans on "other publicly available information" to decide whether to publish an unanswered edit, keeping your own website's business details accurate and consistent also makes a wrong suggested edit less likely to go live automatically.
