title: "Google Opens Applications for a UGC Fresh Data Program That Pushes Forum Content to Search"
description: "Large forums and social platforms can now apply to send fresh posts and engagement counts to Google Search through a dedicated pipeline, separate from crawling."
tldr: "Google has documented a UGC Fresh Data Program: approved platforms built on user-generated content can send fresh posts and engagement counts to Google through a dedicated pipeline, separate from crawling and the Indexing API. It needs high volume, public pages with stable URLs, attributable creators, active moderation, OAuth 2.0, and forum or social-posting markup or the ability to add it. Google says it responds within 6 to 8 weeks and guarantees neither acceptance nor appearance in Search."

Google added a Search Central page on 8 October 2026 describing a UGC Fresh Data Program, which lets approved platforms "use a dedicated data ingestion pipeline to send content and interaction signals to Google" so that fresh content "is processed and quickly updated in Search". Google describes it as exclusively for trending user-generated content and independent of both the Indexing API and ordinary crawling, and says taking part "doesn't guarantee that content will appear in Search". Applications go through a form, and Google says it will respond within 6 to 8 weeks.

The eligibility list is the useful part, because it doubles as a checklist. A platform must primarily host UGC, social posts or forum discussions on dedicated pages with stable URLs, "not on profile or feed pages"; have a high volume of content and a significant user base; keep the content public, with nothing behind a login or paywall, and attributable to a creator with a public profile; publish no illegal content and run active moderation with a user reporting mechanism; and be able to implement OAuth 2.0 and send validated JSON-LD payloads, ideally within minutes of posting, with engagement counts updated within 72 hours of creation. It must also use valid on-page markup such as `SocialMediaPosting` or `DiscussionForumPosting` with `interactionStatistic`, or be prepared to add it.

If you handle SEO for a large forum, community or social platform, audit those points before applying: thread URLs that change, or discussions that live only on feed or profile pages, would each rule a platform out, while missing markup would not, provided the platform can add it. Google gives no numeric threshold for volume. For a forum that does not qualify nothing changes: its content still reaches Search through crawling.
